

Halil Tekiner
Prof. Dr. Halil Tekiner was born in 1983 in Kayseri, Türkiye. He graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Ankara University, where he also completed his MSc and PhD in the History of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Management. Following his doctoral studies, he held visiting scholar appointments at Harvard Medical School, Philipps University of Marburg, and the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Tekiner’s scholarly work focuses on the intersections of the history of medicine, pharmacy, music, literature, and culture. He regards science and art as two mutually enriching creative fields and explores the capacity of literature to cultivate ethical sensitivity and empathy in medicine and healthcare, as well as the relationships between music, the human mind, medicine, and culture.
Since 2010, he has contributed to Andante Classical Music Magazine, writing on composers’ illnesses, medical themes in music, and the cultural history of music. He is the author of 14 books published and more than 200 articles in seven languages. His piano compositions have been released in four albums. He has received numerous national and international distinctions, including the Outstanding Young Scientist Award of the Turkish Academy of Sciences, the Jury Special Award of the Turkish Pharmacists’ Association Academy of Pharmacy, and the Golden Mortar Award for the History of Pharmacy.
A member of American, French, German, Italian, and Turkish societies for the history of medicine and pharmacy, as well as the International Academy for the History of Pharmacy, Tekiner serves as Head of the Department of the History of Pharmacy and Ethics at Erciyes University Faculty of Pharmacy. He also served two terms as President of the International Society for the History of Pharmacy and has taught courses in the medical humanities at the Faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy at Erciyes University.
